Whitsunday trip

coast birdview1, originally uploaded by hooying.

Whitsunday is the largest island among other 74 smaller islands. They are on the north east coast of Queensland and close to the famous Great Barrier Reef. This is the birdeye view of a typical Queensland coast.

I've always wanted to visit Whitsunday islands. Is it cold down there in August? Which months are the best for snorkeling?

mw, Whitsunday was actually very, very warm during our stay. I am thinking August might even turn out a bit hot for the tourists. There is a trade-off between sailing and snorkeling: if you prefer sailing, the prevailing wind will prevent you from snorkeling in some areas that developed nice coral reefs; if the latter is your preference, like what we did this time, the sailing experience on a calm ocean wasn't that thrilling at all. Anyways, I guess it all depends on the weather condition the day you visit, either way you will enjoy yourself! (Do I sound like a salesperson for OZ Adventure now...)

Fly from Brisbane to Prosapine wasn't expensive at all. Check Jetstar for their latest offers.
