This is the "waiting hall" of the Proserpine airport we flew in for the Whitsunday trip. Isn't it cute!

Whitsunday trip

Whitsunday is the largest island among other 74 smaller islands. They are on the north east coast of Queensland and close to the famous Great Barrier Reef. This is the birdeye view of a typical Queensland coast.

in the ocean... It's about 300 feet from our boat.

Snorkling

snorkling2, originally uploaded by hooying.

My snorkling skill in the ocean does not even come close to the professional looking of the outfit -- I almost had myself drowned!!! Nevertheless, I cannot wait to develop the film in my waterproof camera -- those are the ones I took my life risk to take!!!

Canoeing on Noosa River (read pix bottom up)

greg on sand patch, originally uploaded by hooying.

I promised Greg an awesome picture for him, so here comes. He is right in the center of the picture!

This sand dome serves as a perfect land mark for our navigation. From a distance away it looks like a sand patch on the golf court. The bald area is due to the nurition layer being deeper than what most plants can reach. Wicked!

fog on noosa river, originally uploaded by hooying.

The velverty layer of the fog in the early dawn is gorgeous!

greg blowing fire, originally uploaded by hooying.

Greg is our super blower regenerating the camp fire we made in a cooker!

The mirroring Upper Noosa River and the jetty at our camp site. The unique nutrition layers below sands support rain forests on this island.

This is what our gears look like. The dry barrels are the essential!

We did a canoe trip on Noosa River. Here is the bay we headed out to the canoeing center on a water texi.

Bus back to Brisbane

frisbee in parking lot, originally uploaded by hooying.

Boys picked up frisbee again in the parking lot in front of our bus terminal. We had to wait for a mid-night Grey Hound to get back to Brisbane. What a journey!

Sunrise

sunrise 1, originally uploaded by hooying.

Really happy I made the sunrise. Really funny that the entire process for the sun to bud out from the sea level took only two seconds!

Waming up...

Mummy out

Apparently one of our fellows got dragged on his feet by dingoes at night ;)

You'd imagine how strong these shrubs are.

dingo track 2, originally uploaded by hooying.

Apperently we were visited by dingoes in the early morning. Their foot tracks remained intact before high tide washed them away.

You can see our camping site in the lower right corner where the vans parked.

Camping on the beach, how cool is that!

day 2-dingoes waning sign, originally uploaded by hooying.

We were told there were dingoes raoming on the island. They could become aggressive if we fed them. This warning sign is just about 200 feet from our camping ground the first night.

Two of us on the right are from Brisbane, the fellow on the left is from Adelaid. We are all on the NSF EAPSI for Australia this year.
